I graduated many years ago with a BSc Psychology (Hons) which has always been an underlying interest of mine. This knowledge, specifically behaviour modification such as Pavlov's dogs fascinated me.

My dog ownership background plays a huge part in why I have worked on several canine qualifications and decided to dedicate myself to helping dogs overcome their backgrounds, fear and reactivity.

After growing up a child who was scared of dogs due to being hurt at a young age my perspective drastically changed and my love and passion for dogs flourished. My first dog was a rescue called 'Cookie' who was a beautiful mix of several unknown breeds. Unfortunately, my parents decided it wasn't going to work after a couple of weeks due to her reactivity. This was devastating at the age of 11, but I understood as they were extremely overwhelmed and concerned for my family's safety. Even at that age I knew that Cookie was a good dog, she was just scared.

Fast forward many years and my husband and I rescued a beautiful staffy cross who we called 'Auberon'/ Obe for short. You will hear me refer to him if you book me to help your four legged family member as he taught me so much. He was young when we rescued him (under 18 months), but unfortunately his start to life had not been good at all. Due to this he was highly reactive due to his negative past experiences and his overwhelming fear of multiple components of the outside world. He was fearful of dogs, new people, loud noises, new situations and more; so basically the world overwhelmed him. Through dedication, positive training techniques, confidence building, nutrition we got him to a point that he coped with the world. He could relax and enjoy himself out in the park or going for adventure walks. Unfortunately, we lost him to mast cell cancer after 5 years.

My husband and I decided we were ready for a new dog. We applied for several rescues but got approached in regards to a puppy that due to circumstances needed a home.  We welcomed Lou our labrador, in May 2023 at 10 weeks old. This was a whole new challenge; a puppy. Now in the midst of adolescence, it has taught me a lot and the challenges that hormones and fear windows generate.
